How Forest Gate A&D Came To Be...
December 2023 - Present Day

Forest Gate Architecture & Design Limited is a brain child of Adam & Kieran. Having worked together, studied together & enjoyed being friends for a long time, we lean on each others skills and knowledge to create one of a kind design.
Kieran was working as the sole Architect at a previous firm running many jobs at a time, looking after multiple apprentices and keeping the firm moving forward. Adam set up and ran his own company, and successfully delivered multiple projects finished to a high standard.
Bachelors of the Arts Degree with Honours in Architecture. Adam chose Portsmouth University due to its locality and his love for the sea. Kieran chose Canterbury School Of Architecture (now UCA), having family located nearby and the prestige of the course helped this choice.
During our studies Adam and Kieran attended Portsmouth University and worked full time throughout. This is common practice, as to become a chartered Architect by the Royal Institute of British Architects, this is one of their many requirements.

The RIBA's requires each student must spend a minimum of 24 (recorded) months in professional practice. This quite often leads to most students going to practices that suit their developing styles.

Masters In Architecture takes a little longer to complete than most masters courses. We believe this is due to the sheer amount of information you have to retain and master to be a great Architect.
Adam stayed in Portsmouth University for his course where as Kieran moved up North to go to Northumbria University.
After your BA Hons In Architecture, you must complete at least one year in practice.
For Adam, Edgington Spink and Hyne in Windsor and HGP in Fareham gave him his second steps into Architectural practices and credits a lot of his learning to these firms.
Kieran joined a solo Architect, who later became Trace Architects, this gave him exposure to projects that would usually be far out of reach of a part 1.

Adam got his first chance to gain an understanding of how a successful Architectural practice can run at a young age.
Quad Architects In Chiswick provided a summer work placement for Adam that helped inform the way he works now.
Kieran realised that from a young age that he loved working out how the world was built.
Rather than running around like the other children on the beach, Kieran would sit for hours sculpting Taj Mahal style sand castles. Was this the start of what has come to be?
